Thanks for sharing your own experience Nola. As you say, it's not always that easy - but God does have it in hand. Wonderful too, to be sensitive to the leading of the Spirit. That's a great verse from Isaiah. :)

Great post Jenny. I really like your tips.

I remember many years ago, I brought a guest speaker to the Uni where I worked and she spoke on the aftermath of abortion. She'd been a counsellor and had worked with a lot of women who'd experienced grief and others problems following their abortions. A lot of students and some staff were at the talk. One staff member took great exception to what she was saying, stood up in the middle of the talk to argue with her, accused me of being unprofessional and stormed out of the room. Everyone was shocked, except for the speaker who carried on undaunted. I think she'd heard it all before.

Afterwards, I was wondering if I should go and talk to my Head of Dept, but I felt God saying to stay quiet and that he had everything under control. The next day happened to be a day when I worked at home and I felt like phoning the other lecturer. Again I felt God say to wait and that the other woman was feeling terrible about it. When I got to work the next day, she apologised to me and we ended up having a two-hour coffee session where we were able to chat amiably about our differences. I felt I had to defend myself, but God had it all under control. It's not always that easy. Sometimes we don't see results that quickly, but God knows and he'll sort it out. I especially love Isaiah 54:17 "no weapon that's fashioned against you ill prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you".

Thanks for sharing :)

Thanks Mimi
That is ironic that a call for being understanding resulted in people unfollowing your blog. The Bible affirms the importance of both truth and love, God is both the Truth and Love - yet it can be so hard for us mere mortals to hold these in tension - sometimes we hold on to truth and forget to love, at others we are loving but sweep truth under the carpet. Yet Love without Truth is a facade and Truth without Love is misses the point.
Thanks for your comment :)

Hi Paula - thanks for sharing your story. It's hard when we face false accusations - perhaps even harder when it is our children. I found David response - and especially the realisation that God had the situation in hand - particularly comforting.

Hi Jenny, thank you for this post and your loving responses to false accusations. I can relate very much and wrote about this here. https://liveforeverhowto.wordpress.com/2014/06/23/the-funniest-religious-joke-of-all-time/

The crazy thing is that this very post I wrote made people fall out with me. The very post I wrote to say, 'please be gentle with each other and respect each other's beliefs,' is what triggered someone to say to me: I'll stop following you because of this belief.

Thank you, good reminders: 'I can pray for both myself and antagonist' and 'Even if the other person won’t listen, I can love and forgive her.''

Hi Jenny,
That's a great, empowering post. Yes, I have been in the position of being falsely accused at times, and my kids too. It's surprising how much it can years later, when it happens to them, the same as it did personally. Thanks for your reminder that we can use King David's response as a guide.
